On today’s episode, Matt talks to someone who he first saw on Broadway nearly a decade ago. In April 2010, when he finally saw "In the Heights" at the Richard Rodgers, Janet Dacal had taken over the role of Nina Rosario, and was absolutely breathtaking, help solidify the musical as one of Matt's top-three shows of all-time.
Since then, she has been seen on Broadway as Alice in the musical "Wonderland" and as one of the stars of "Prince of Broadway." She can currently be seen playing Dina in the national tour of "The Band’s Visit," but, while they discuss much of that, in this episode, Matt and Janet talk about her outstanding, recently released album, “My Standards.”
The album is full of hits from the Great American Songbook, but they are infused with a Cuban-American flair inspired by the music that she heard growing up from her parents.
