What we cover
BroadwayRadio covers theater at every level — Broadway, off-Broadway, regional houses, and the work that makes its way to the stage. Across our shows we publish daily news briefings, weekly news roundups, long-form interviews, opening reviews, weekly grosses analysis, and behind-the-scenes craft conversations.
We're most interested in pitches that fit the editorial register of a specific show on our network. A long-form interview with a creative team works for Class Notes, Tell Me More, or Stagecraft. A new opening lands on In Review or Review Recap. Industry news fits Today on Broadway or This Week on Broadway. Pop-culture-adjacent stories are right for Some Like It Pop.
Lead time matters. Daily shows can move fast; weekly and monthly shows fill their slate further out. The earlier you reach out, the more likely we can fit a good pitch into the right show at the right time.
What makes a good pitch
We read every pitch. The ones that turn into coverage tend to share a few things in common.
- ✓ A specific show on our network the pitch fits — and why.
- ✓ Lead time appropriate to the show's frequency.
- ✓ A clear angle or hook — what's the conversation we'd have?
- ✓ Talent availability windows and any embargo dates.
- ✓ Production photography and assets attached or linked.
- ✓ Realistic expectations about coverage timing and length.
- ✗ Mass-blast emails sent to every podcast in the field.
- ✗ "We'd love coverage" with no specific format in mind.
- ✗ Requests to see questions in advance.
- ✗ Asks for copy approval before publication.
- ✗ Pitches sent the week of opening with no prior outreach.
- ✗ Pressure to promise positive coverage in exchange for access.
How we work with publicists
We have ongoing working relationships with most of the major Broadway PR firms. Here's how that works in practice.
Embargoes
We honor reasonable embargoes. Send the embargo date clearly with the pitch; if we can't fit the embargo window into our publishing schedule, we'll tell you up front rather than agreeing and breaking it.
Press night invitations
Our reviewers and feature hosts cover openings regularly. Send invitations to pitch@broadwayradio.com with date, venue, and preferred ticket count. We confirm attendance when seats are blocked.
Editorial independence
Reviews are honest. Interviews aren't pre-screened. We don't share questions in advance, offer copy approval, or promise positive coverage in exchange for access. This is not negotiable — it's the foundation of why our audience trusts us, and why advertisers value the network.
Response time
Pitches that fit get a response within 3–5 business days. Pitches we're passing on get a response (eventually); we know "no response" is itself an answer, but we try not to make you guess.
